Before I joined here, I was googling for things like "brown algae in saltwater aquarium" or "bugs on rock saltwater aquarium" or "circle algae saltwater aquarium glass" or "snail without shell saltwater aquarium" - these types of searches, even without knowing what you are searching for. I can say that 99% of the time, doing that at least led me to what I was to be searching for. Not to mention the vast knowledge gained by all the reading until I figured out what I was to be searching for...

Holly Shirt, I almost feel off my chair when I read this! thanks for the laugh! :LolLolLol:LolLolLol

Basically I look at it this way, if you don't want to answer (and I understand why) don't answer because there is someone out there that will. I feel the same way when I see "how do I get rid of this red stuff" and why are all my rocks covered in the red stuff" both at the same time.

But on the other hand I use the search all the time but sometimes it just gets really old when you have to read through 20 threads to get the answer your looking for because it picks up on single post that may have the words you looking for. Especially when a simple to the point question will do the same thing.

Google is your friend, it's what we should use before calling out "help me.. help me..."

I think this site is great for info.. whenever I googled something I always was directed to a post on this forum! Now that I have educated myself to the point of being semi useful I will help as much as I can!

I think the most experienced and well-informed minds are too busy still working to take the time to write or teach to exclusion. Keep in mind that you are unlikely to meet such a guru on the internet at 2:00 AM. Most of the real wizards of the industry are not waiting for you with a speedy electronic reply at a moment's notice. In fact, it is more likely that the self-professed expert that has been so generously giving you electronic misinformation sits in front of his computer buck naked. I don't like to think about it either; it's sad but true.

LOL. Let's hope that's not the case. If it is, let's hope the rest of us double and triple check our facts before trying anything on our tanks.

OK i am new here so please don't hate or bash :) I run a few forums myself and have found that this is alway the common thing that happens. I have seen the same questions come up several times with the same people answering them. I do have to admit that when it is me answering the questions it gets a little old answering the same question once a week or so. I think the people that are new and don't know how to use the forums need a little schooling on how to use the search feature before jumping in and asking a question. i have found that if I search before I ask the question i will find my answers in mannnnny threads.. just my .02 cents ;D
