I have noticed lately that there are tons of threads on here from people asking for help. These threads consistently get less than 10 responses, while the "I wanna complain about crap" threads get 100 responses.

I think we should get back to lending each other technical support and not just moral support!

Good point. I know that I have probably been contributing to the problem now and then but your right. I have found myself second guessing about posting questions on here due to the lack of responses when I have posted lately.

Help IS the reason I became a member here. I have questions and need to look up information to make a wise conscientious decision before jumping in head first blindfolded.
Yes please resort back to helping other members

well the only thing I have to say about the number of post on a help catagory is trivial. If the answer was given in the first few posts then why should the post continue. I am not try to start an arguement but the help I get here is very good and knowledgeable. Most of the time my post get answers within a few min. and mostly everyone concures and I back check answers and that concures. I think we should praise the great people that cruse these threads. In sted of complaining about people who like to complain. I enjoy a good debate unless it turn into a fight. Well that is my 2 bits.

    complaining about people complaining...;)

I agree, I've also seen a few threads go negative really fast...It's ok to argue, but it's not ok to get rash about things

I agree with Woods- The reason I post so often is that I get answers and most of the time within a couple posts. I think the fact that it only takes a couple posts to answer a question says alot about the knowelage of the people on 3Reef. Besides once a post is answered why would you keep going back and forth back and forth on it. IMO the reason the other threads go back and forth so much is because they are open discussions and the 3reef regulars like to chat it up. It's all good- I think this is a great site and clearly so do others as we keep coming back for more.

Look, if people want to complain fine, use the forums that way you want. I am just saying that help posts don't always get adequate answers in the first few posts, but generally a few posts is all they seem to get. I realize that if the right answer comes immediately there is no reason to continue the thread--it just doesn't always happen that way.

My advise to us all would be that if we want to make this a better site to not be so quick to judge. Too many questions get asked and I sit here feeling bad for the person that posted becuase we concentrate on what they should not have done rather then helping them with their problem. I understand there is a lesson to be learned in most cases but I think that should be secondary after the post has been answered .. IE maybe something like.. In the future I would.. Or May I suggest that in the future it may be a good idea if.... Much better received and will keep the new people to the hobby interested in what we are doing here. Just an observation......

I definetly post on threads if im familiar with the help topic. But its people who start those useless threads not the people who post.

Some threads here have nothing to do with reef tanks. like that ice vs water thread, which i posted on several times :) but thats because it made no sense to begin with.

The last thread i posted about my sump questions barely got any response and the ice vs water thread got about 5 pages worth.

I don't know everything so alot of the times I don't answer. IMO I think there are only a few that know a ton about this hobbie on here. So where do you go when the pros don't know. I guess that is where the real debte is.

Was there some thing that didn't get answered for you?

In addition I know I can't read every post either. Pharmer john helps those with his bump thing and makes shure they get noticed. Then again how many times can we answer that, that worm you have is bristle worm. Some times it does get repeitive. But I take it all in fun and learn a few things along the way. I under stand your gripe and will fight along side you for better knowledge of our posts. :)

I also offer my hand in friendship
