Did the glass break or did a pipe break? (is your tank salvageable?)

    Blessing in disguise? Good luck!

A combo of what everyone suggested is what I'm gonna do for our big move next month...I want to to save at least 50% of the water, so I'll be investing in quite a few 5g buckets & lids, I think 8 should do the trick, with a piece of lr in each. To be on the safe side I'll be using the same media once I refill the tank...but good luck to you Snowby, let us know how it turns out. Oh, and KUDOS for your wife too!

The only thing I would add is a small airstone in with the fish. And get some prime just in case the parameters get too far out of whack. I would also completely skip on the feeding. They will be fine for a few days witout food, and feeding will only muck up the water even faster.

Not exactly sure yet as I am out of town. It sounds as if the bottom tank seal separated. The tank is an old Odell, I bought it as a teen ager in the 80's. I guess it has lived its life. I have had it set up since June 08 with no problems.

It just might be time to upgrade, new of course. I have to find a little laughter in all of this.

She did an amazing job! Ditto for my two boys. If I do need a new tank I'll have to place it next to all the flowers.

Thank you all for your help and I will keep you up to date when I get home this weekend.

Wow... Disaster is being mild in this case. Your fish will be fine as long as you have them in the Bins you spoke of and have some sort of temp controle and as well as putting O2 into the water while you are away for 2 days. leaving them in the bins with still water will most likely lead to your stocks demise. good luck my friend

Man, thats rough. Thats my worst nightmare because if my 90 gave way, it would go right onto hardwood floor and probably down into the basement down onto my 60 inch TV. That would be a disaster. But K+ for having to deal with this and for dealing with it so well.
