I am so disappointed with my salt water tank. It use to be so beautiful !
Now I have green & red algae growing all over the glass. With alot of scrubbing, I manage to keep the front glass relatively clean. The back is green & the sides are red. The snails seem to be doing nothing. I do have the recommended lighting & I run it from 9 to 10 hours a day with 2 of that being the antics. ( one on each end )

I do 1 water change once per week. Each time I add 1 tsp of Marinvit to feed my reef. If you are not familiar with Marinvit, you can google it. Perhaps I am getting all this algae because I should not be dosing with marinvit. Maybe the water changes are enough. What are you feelings ?

What are your water parameters? What type of water do you use? What type oflighting do you run and how old are the bulbs?

How old is the tank, what do you have for flow and what corals are you trying to feed with that and what/how many does your CuC consist of?

Or is this just coralline algae? Can it be scrubbed off or is it hard and plate like?

I will suggest that when you post and are asking for help or for ideas, please include all basic information. Basic information should include; all water parameters Magnesium, Alkalinity, Ph and Nitrate and Phosphate levels) along with Temp. of your tank and Sg (specific gravity). Size of tank and complete set up meaning, filter type (sump, canister etc.), if you use a skimmer, lighting (what type and total output)plus what type of lighting are you using and what is your lighting schedule (how long a period are your actinic and daylights on) and if you have fish only with live rock and if you keep
corals. Also how long the tank has been up. I know some of this is in your bio but many bios don't contain this info. How many times has someone posted and then there is this list of postings addressing the above. If you give the most info you can to give us a good profile, it will cut down on response time and mis-diagnosis or answers that don't
fit and we will all benefit.
