It's copper that I'm more concerned about and it's not something that I learned from reading ;)

I myself seldom acclimate a fish But for those that do simply use a small bucket pour the fish and store water into bucket then using air line and a valve simply drip water from tank to bucket through airline via a siphon then when you have matched the stores water with as much of your tanks water simply slip a wet hand up under the fish and then cover it if you feel jumpy and simply lay it into the tank.. I never ever net a fish when I do acclimate some of the really expensive and delicate fish .

As for a star fish being exposed to air LOL Yes I have heard the same aout Linkisa and spoges and corals LOL Then on the the other hand in the wild they will set up high and dry wating for high tide hrs away . Linkias will move from tide pool to tide pool during low tide .

As for adding LFS water I have been in many of them and I know for a fact the add copper to medicate the fish until they sell them , I was doing a HVAC system in a LFS in Hampton Va. one of the best and largest in the area about 10 yrs ago and anyone in the hoppy from that area wil know the shop But a man asked the person that moring if they ever added copper to their fish holding systems ? Lady looked the guy right in the face and said Oh No sir we have never medicated out systems with Copper.. That moring was after lastnights new shippmenst arrivial and I watched them pour copper into the sump ! And I know of 2 in the Richmond are add copper :) But it would matter not to me as I never add their water to my system.

And most of it is written by people who like to hear themselves think LOL and seperate you from your money..

That 1/4 drop of Cu that is in that quart of bag water wouldn't even be enough Cu to harm even an eight gal biocube....

You would need to add alot more Cu than that to cause issue..

You're assuming that every lfs uses the same amount of copper and has the same fish care procedures that your store does. I don't assume such things. I'd rather be safe than sorry any day as I'm sure many other hobbiests do. I've had fish several store owners/employees tell me that they do not recommend adding their water to my tank after purchasing animals from them, just as a precaution so I'm under the impression that I'm not the only person who thinks that this is a good practise to follow.

Would you knowingly put copper tinged water in your tank ? Not to mention the fact that copper is a heavy metal that will accumulate and a 1/4 drop her and a few there .. Unless you run a metal sponge 24/7
