yeah!! baserock is here!! I'm playing on glueing it together into 3 different sections and zip tying them together. that way when I move out its easier to transport. Is there any special kind of zip ties out there they wont cause any algae blooms?

Rock looks good! Any zip ties will work fine AFAIK. Pretty sure they're all made of the same stuff.

So far I ordered 2 icecap reflectors, and an ati special blue, and an ati blue plus. They came today. Man are they bright. Good thing I only ordered two to test the color. The blue plus was a less blue then I hoped but definitely not as yellow as the t5 on my other tank. Im doing 6 bulbs and I was thinking possibly two more blue specials, a blue plus and a fiji pink. Any thoughts? No other pics because I can't find my camera charger but theres sand in the tank and a little bit of water that I throw in from my other tank when I do water changes to start building bacteria. Starting work on the hood tomorrow cant wait. Also apparently 36 in bulbs arent 36 inches? news to me. More like 35 and 3/4 with the caps on which im glad. That means less overhang. (Tank is 30 wide)

 

I did watch your vid from the contest. Very nice rock scape! This is going to be a sweet build.

 

I would do 2 blue plus and 1 aquablue( it should look white to slightly yellow compared to the blue plus and a UVL actinic white/fiji purple.

 

Update, so I'm doing everything perfectly this time so there is no headaches. I wanted to wait till the lights got here until i built the hood. Hood is finally complete. Im still waiting to paint the hood until I install the fans, but I can't find fans where I dont have to sodder. any suggestions of online places? heres some pics so far, I love these lights. It puts my other two tanks to shame. So far I only bought two because I wanted to see the color. Im really happy but I think I want to add a purple. Right now its aqua blue special and blue plus. Think I might do one fiji purple, two more aqua special blue, and one more blue plus. Thoughts?

 

Still have to add water, build the refugium, and paint the back. I have two hydor 750s on their way. On a side note, here is my review of the ice cap slr reflectors. Price A+, reflectivity A+, hardware included C. The thing came with a nut and bolt that was like maybe a quarter inch long. What am I supposed to do with that? It holds the clamp down but thats it, if I used that I wouldnt be able to mount the fixture. So I had to go to Lowes and buy half inch screws.

 

and heres an update of my reef. I really wish those candy canes would split or grow new heads. They are getting huge, there like 3x the size since I bought them, this acan I bought and it had one head now it has atleast 15 babies, and these are my new zoas, they are bright green, forest, white, and semi orange. Any one know a name?
