It should be running at a slow drip.

I had my setup for two months, and took it down. I had it at 1 drop per second, then after two week(with 0 Nitrate icomming from the outlet) i bumpped it up to 2 Dps. Even at that speed, the horrible sulfur smell took over the house. Then I bumped it up to 2.5 Dps, the smell still sticks around. At that point I decided to tear it down and redo the cycle. My system is 6" in diameter and 2 1/2' high, even a 2.5 Dps the rate is still too slow. What I am trying to say is that depending on the size of the denitrater, the drip rate should be adjusted accordingly. The smell can be a good indicator. Adjust .5 Dps every two days until the smell goes away. Remember to be patient, releasing the flow too quickly is like hitting the reset button. GL
