Ouch, that sucks. Shop vac will do. Don't know which are and aren't tempered. I know there is an LFS near me that keeps a list, of which panels, on which tanks are tempered. I'm not sure if they sell Deep Blue thigh, but I can ask if no one else knows.

Be careful whatever you do. I mean if it were me move the large panes to an outdoor trash (bring it in to help you) and put some gloves on while doin that. as for the smaller ones, just good ol broom n dust pan. :-/ unless you have a shop vac.

There is a guy on 3reef (fishyfinder) who now works at Aquarium Adventure, the fish store in Columbus where I bought the tank back in February. I will have to ask him or call the store, I suppose. I'm furious right now to say the least.

Man I'm sorry to hear about the tank. It's stories like this that keep me from trying to drill my own tank. I'm too nervous to even try my 40b. I'll just use a hob overflow if I ever setup a sump for it.

I guess the LFS I was thinking of doesn't carry DB. I looked at the DB brochure on their website and they say tempered glass on selected models, but don't specify which models.

    hhhmmmm.....

    option 1. A broom.

option 2. Cover it with newspaper.

option 3. blame Mr. Mayhem from the all-state commercials.

sorry, just trying to add a little humor for a moment.

on the serious side, be careful cleaning that up and if you need help then wait for some. It's better to wait then it is to cut yourself and add a trip to the ER into the mix.

If the glass kind of just popped and shattered to tiny pieces it was definitely tempered. A non tempered would have shattered into larger jagged pieces like you would see people use as weapons on movies. Either way sorry to hear about it. It is definitely a shock when the panel just pops and turns to confetti. I had it happen to me once and it sure makes one hell of a mess. And a drill with a clutch helps prevent the tank from breaking if the bit binds. It stops the drill from torquing on the glass. Particularly helpful when just about all the way through the tank.
