Ok I am planning on upgrading my tank from just the standard nano filter/hoodlighting-integrated to a new set of T5's, HOB overflow, sump. My question is, given my set up and what I would need to do to run a sump and upgrade lighting, would it be cheaper just to buy a new tank with built-in overflow??

Some overflow boxes are expensive and that is something I will not cheap out on unless I want a saltwater pool in my living room.

    Ideas, comments?? :)

I'm not a fan of HOB overflows for a number of reasons. I'd buy a new tank with one built in and sell your old tank.

    What would those reasons be?

I have used a hang-on overflow for about a year and never had a problem with it. A tank w/ a built-in overflow will cost you a lot of money AND you will need to either buy a plumbing kit ($50) or build your overflows yourself.

If I bought a new tank I could make an overflow myself but being a newb I would probably screw that up. However, doing this would be cheap I'd think since I can have it drilled etc. But on the otherhand just buying a nice OF box for my current tank I would have to relocate anything and much easier, it's just the OFs are a little pricey for a box :)

What size tank will it be for? check these out:

    ProFlex Overflow | Wet/Dry Aquarium Filters | Filters | Aquarium - ThatPetPlace.com
    Overflow Boxes | Wet/Dry Aquarium Filters | Filters | Aquarium - ThatPetPlace.com

If it is for a smaller tank I have a used one that I cleaned up and have been trying to sell for a while. I am asking $30 for it shipped. I also have a pro-clear 125 wet/dry which would come w/ the overflow for $160 shipped.
