So, I have the LEDs in the Biocube 29, and the RBTAs seem happy not being right at the top so I have a little bit of space for potential SPS. The problem is I'm not sure if my tank is set up in a way that SPS would do well. I have a fair amount of LPS and some zoas along with the RBTA and its small clone. I have filter pad, chemipure and purigen along with chaeto in the fuge (lit 24/7) but still get some GHA growing in the tank. I don't want to get the SPS and have it brown out and die. Opinions?

What do you have for flow?

MaxiJet 1200 for the return pump. Nothing in the tank for powerheads... though I had thought of one.

That probably won't cut it. You'll need at least one PH in the tank for flow. Flow is just as essential for SPS as sufficient lighting and water parameters.

What's a good nano-sized PH that won't throw my sand all over? I'd be sure to get the PH with plenty of time for the RBTAs to move before the SPS

No modes or options on the pumps, the faster one is 425. You will want to have about 50 times flow for SPS or have the coral close to the flow of the pump but not directly in it.

It can be a PITA trying to get the flow, lighting, nutrient levels etc... right for a mixed reef. Dedicated tanks are much easier. It can be done though, but you will need more flow and will likely need to rearrange some things as a result. Keeping a mixed reef requires a lot of constant tweaking, but still my favorite type of tank.

Agreed, once you find the right mix you will be in heaven.
