So i found one of my turbo snails upside down yesterday. I righted him and he went crusin' on the rock. Woke up this morning and he was upside down with plate sunken in, I've given him up for dead, but herein lies my question.
He has 2 limpets living on his shell. Should i pluck em and set them on a rock ( are limpets even worth it?) or just call it a lost cause and get him out before he starts to turn my water?

i dont think hed foul your water that bad, more than likely end up as a meal for other snails or hermits if you have any. one of my hermits took over a turbo shell, this dude upgraded from a townhouse to a mansion. :)

don't worry about it...I just let'em go...nice selection of empty shells scattered about is a good thing.

I agree, I just leave them in. If you acclimated say 4 and they all died, then I would remove them.

Well i took him out and man did he stink! :dizzy2:
I'm paranoid about my params since i don't yet have a skimmer, and already have two ammonia machines( aka eels) in the tank. Figured it wouldn't hurt to take him out. I did pry off the two limpets, it was neat to see the underside of them since they were always stuck to his shell. We'll see if they live::)

    Thanks for the info guys!

Yea those things have a smell that cant be put into words. When ours die they usually turn into a meal for something within about 10 minutes so we just leave them in there to be eaten. Those rotting things are pretty tempting to use to prank someone though.
