Well, another step in my reef tank is complete. I just installed an auto top off system. I got very nervous when I needed to go away on the weekend and didn't trust my family to keep up with adding water. I bought the sensors and switch setup from autotopoff.com, I also bought an aqua lifter from bulkreefsupply.com, about $80 total for peace of mind.

well, just wanted to mention my latest problem. I got home today to find my sump pump broken. Don't know what happened, I cleaned it and still nothing, impeller wasn't even spinning at all. So I needed to go out and get a new one. My water temp. was down to about 72 F, but everything was ok, some zoas were a little closed, but everything else was open and doing well. I put one of my heaters in the main tank to slowly raise the temp and just restarted it. Im glad I thought about the design of the sump and its plumbing. It doesn't overflow and the check valve works well.

Just had a fish jump, it was my flasher wrasse. He was all dried up so it must have happened a few hours ago. I think I will forgo jumpers form now on. In other news, I just ordered a PM redline skimmer to replace my remora HOB that has been acting weird for the past 5 months. Ill see how the new skimmer works out.

Just got and installed my new skimmer, a Precision Marine Redline 125. My first thoughts:
Very well built, they are known for their quality and this skimmer is no exception. It has threaded bulkheads and nice thick acrylic construction. Everything fit together nicely and went assembled in a few minutes and running in a few minutes. Very easy to adjust the water height too, just turn the top pipe. I will give a more detailed review after it breaks in.

Well, I just had my sixline jump out, don't know why, he seemed very happy. I think I will stay away from anything that can jump from now on.
