it really depends, what is the size of ur tank, how much rock how much sand what filter etc... usually "cycling" will do done in a month but...that does not include algae blooms and ect... :)

Have you been testing for Amonia, Nitrite and nitrate? It's done cycling when you have no more Amonia or Nitrite. Nitrate will then start to rise. Be sure to keep up with the water changes so the Nitrate stays low.

Its a 10 gallon tank, with about 15 lb of live rock, and about 1 to 1 1/2 inch of sand. I have an aquaclear, and a millenium filter. I havent really tested the water, I have a really cheap water tester. I need to go to the LFS and get it tested. I do frequent water changes about 10% once every to weeks.

ok, well once the levels seem right the cycling may be over, but be sure to monitor them after ur first fish, they might jump and u will need to change some of the water :)

10% every 2 weeks isn't that much. It's enough for a mature tank, but you might consider doing them weekly or increasing the volume. With a small tank like yours, bad things happen fast, so it's better to be safe than sorry.

Good advice from everyone....keep testing those water parameters and beware with a small volume of water, it will go bad fast if it's going to! Being in this hobby has taught me much patience.... ;)
