    Cycling and cloudyness??

I have a 10 gal freshwater tank. Just tested the water. Here are the results: Nitrate- 10 to 20
    Nitrite- 0
Total Hardness- 150 : (I know I need to ,some how bring that down, where I live I have very hard water, thoughts??)
    Alkalinity & pH are good
4th day of having it, going thought cycling right now. Temp is at 80. I have no fish. Just trying to get everything perfect, any suggestions?? My tank is a little cloudy, should I do a 20% water cycle??

    Thanks for the time!! :)

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Boy been a long time since I had a Fw tank like 30 years, but if memory serves me correctly a nitrogen cycle is a nitrogen cycle, therefore I would wait it out, 4 days is nothing.

Cloudiness I would not worry about on the 4th day.

Did you add anything to the tank or does your water source have a high nitrate level?

Let it recover on its own. Turn off the lights if you have no fish or plants.

I just added decorations, conditioner, bacteria ( the stuff the comes in the bottle), and air tubing and air pump.

Let it ride! I always cycle my fresh tank with fish. Usually day 4 to 6 you'll see cloudiness and everybody says lets add something to get rid of that and that's WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its natural. In fact the water might have a musty smell but its natural and a part of the process so let it be.

+1. Just dont do it. Its boarder line animal cruelty and there are definately other ways you can cycle your freshwater tank. I cycled my freshwater tank with a small piece of shrimp. You definately dont need live fish for cycling, and anyone who says you do.......................

The ammonia spike burns gills and stresses the fish. Easier ways to cycle than exposing a fish to horrible water quality.
