cycle tank??

    ive just put 2 medium sized prawns in a pair of tights and put them in the tank to cycle it as my live rock and sand dont seem to be doing anything and my results are at 0 after 5 days.

    ive turnt my heater up to 26c
    my question is i have my filter,heater,2 powerheads and skimmer on which is still breaking in as only had it running 3 days.should i turn the skimmer off or leave it on??

    will the skimmer stop the cycle when the prawns start to rot and cause ammonia??

    I would turn the skimmer off, if you are cycling w/ just shrimp it's going to be a while.
