10 days into cycle and ammonia went from .25 to 0, nitrites went from 5 ppm to 0, nitrates at 0-5 ppm. Seems awful fast. Saw some pods cleaning up the last of a shrimp. Add a fish now or drop in another shrimp ?

Does seem fast, whats Phosphates like?

Something tells me you might get an algae bloom in a few weeks :/ Everyone has different ideas though :)

Phosphate test kit coming in mail tomorrow. Should be low since I use RO/DI water.

It would not hurt to add another shrimp, I think instead I would try a single damsel fish, and just feed normally. The shrimp jumpstarts the bacteria. But you still do not have enough of a bacterial colony to support much of a bio-load. So you have already started it, just keep it going. Watch your numbers.

    Ok :)

Just airing caution bud. Have you any algae build-up at the moment?

Reason I ask it can give false readings from the test kits. You may like to have a quick look at my setup in my sig.

I set my tank up, with RO and put in over 80 of Fijian live rock. After a week or so my readings were much the same as yours. After 3 weeks I started getting green hair algae popping up, within a week my tank was literally covered. Many things got stifled and I lost a few expensive corals. On a plus side none of my inverts or fish were affected.

Just please be aware the readings might not be what you think they are.

    All the best :)

Definately not adding any any coral yet. Started tank with 50lbs marco rock, 20 lbs live rock, 80 lbs bagged live sand added to 120 lb marco sand. miniscule algae at this time.

Tank is looking nice, the columns will give you a great base to work on.

Shrimps can be quite susceptible and require good water generally so I guess you will soon find out if there are any problems.

My recommendation, give it a few more weeks :)

I hate waiting, this is my 3rd marine tank and one that I have rushed the most as I am in the process of setting up a 200g system, I wish I had just took my time with this one now :)

Hope it goes well for you as you have made a great start ;)
