is the curing of LR only rock that has been out of water? My LFS stores it in tanks in with other livestock and people just pick it out.

To cure LR it must be in water with a power head (water movement) and a heater.
Depending on how bad the LR is will determine how long you have to cure it.

One way is when the LR in a tub curing smell it and if it smells like a swamp then it is not finished curing.
Change the water in the tub that the LR is in every 3 days or so. make sure the tub had a lid on it also.

If the LFS is selling the LR from the display tanks then it is already cured and ready to go.

I agree with Dave except about it being ready if it is in lfs display I have been in stores that have taken the rock right from the box and dumped in the main display tanks. The theory is that their systems will handle the spike and rock won't be there that long so I would still be careful
