CUC arrived ..BAD scene. : (

Got my CUC from reefcleaners delivered today...the bad thing is though, it was 104 today...and I come home from school and see the box sitting on my truck..first thing I see is a big sticker that states "KEEP AWAY FROM HEAT" and a picture of the SUN shining on it....WHAT is wrong with the post man? ...funny thing, there was a chair sitting under a GIANT SHADE TREE that was at least 20 degrees cooler than the surface of my truck...anyhow,got them in and started to acclimate..long story short..Nerites and Ceriths and about 4 Nassarius and a handful of dwarfs survived...but it looks like a feeding frenzy on the rest of them...free food for the bubble bee snails and crabs !! and I'll have to remove the dead soldiers after they have finished..and BTW, snails don't smell so good when they have been cooked. LOL ;D
oh well...que sera sera could have been worse.8)
...also, this is in no means a negative comment about reefcleaners...in fact, it was packaged well and shipped promptly...and what survived is great...USPS dropped the ball.. : /

 

sorry to hear about that, snails are the worst when they die. once when removing a rotten snail from my tank, im talking a huge turbo snail, the entire body dumped out of the shell and totally polluted my tank. it was like if somebody dumped a fountain pen in the tank there was all this black inky crap swirling around.

good to hear about reefcleaners they always do have great service.

 

Ewww yuk I bet that smelled really bad.

Hope you complained to the USPS, no common sense.

Excellent job on keeping the humor, and hopefully you guys get some relief from the heat soon.

 

Sorry that happened to you Is it so difficult for the mailman to just read the box? Some of them don't seem to care, from what I've heard. Well I hope the rest stay alive. Most of the snails that I put in my tank are eaten by my hermit crabs.

 

My USPS carrier was the same when my CUC came from john, box said handle with care/fragile. It was one of the most beat up boxes I have ever received, but my CUC was unharmed

 

LG sorry to about that. I know how bad that smells. I had about 7 huge turbos that died in the tank as well, man let me tell you the wifey almost killed me. Lol we had to open all the windows and vent the house for over two hours just to get the smell out.. Feelin your bro!

 

some times humor is all we got : / complain to usps..ever heard of "beating a dead horse?" LOL : )

I know...the stickers were bright red and I could see/read them from my car !! ;D

I've pulled a few snails from the ocean to feed to my puffer a few times and one time we packed soo many in a plastic empty soda bottle that I didn't use them all.

... being a guy, I had to give it a whiff after the rest rotted in the bottle for a few days!
Smelling salts aint got nuttin' on dead snails!

There is always next time.
