like 99% of people like sand better, because
    1) it denitratfies
    2) it doesn't hide as much waste inside it.

I have it in My tank only because When I set-up I didn't know the drawbacks. When I upgrade tanks eventually I plan to ditch it in favor of sand. I siphon mine as best as possible, every other WC (2weeks).I also, don't overfeed and target feed corals. My Nitrates have been 1ppm for the last few months.

IMO I think sand looks more pretty and resembles the sea floor better.

Switch it out when you can, there seems to be too many problems with cc.

Sand. I had the crushed coral in my last tank and it is a hard to keep clean. The sand looks nicer and it stays clean with star fish and Diamond Watchman Goby. Much more natural looking too.
