On my way home from work I stopped in at a pet store that I will not name. I was interested in picking up some base rock so to make some rubble. Anyway, I ended up speaking to an employee – she said she was the head of the department. I asked about the flatworm that was in the coral tank. She told me it was copepods and beneficial to our tanks. Oh boy, so I started to explain what it was and that it’s harmless but the population grows quickly and becomes unsightly as well as releases toxins when it dies.

Well, she immediately took a defensive position letting me know what copepods are and how and why they are beneficial. So I think wait, I am not getting any younger so perhaps she see’s something I can not. So I say, I am referring to these red things – with a snotty retort she says “ I know” and went on about her higher education. What a piece of garbage, even if I was wrong (which I promise you I know flatworm vs. a friggin copepod) why would anyone be so snotty with a customer.

Oh well, like I said – I won’t name the business but if was filled with People Encouraging Tanks Cheerfully Oblivios

So all good stories should come with a moral ….. always inspect the health of all the tanks in store.

I had some one explain the nitrogen cycle in reverse to me one time, but they gave in when I told them the right way.

The lfs I knew told friend and I, the lion fish is peaceful fish and wont disturb anything. Friend bought it and in 5 minute it ate his cleaner shrimp, which is the only thing he had in his 60g tank at that time, we were like "oh sh*t!" That was like long time ago before I found about 3reef :D
Now I confirm with here first before going to lfs and asking them questions.

Haha, I love asking them questions just to see the retarded answers they give. And I love how they all "have" saltwater tanks at home if you ask. I doubt it.

I won't go to my local pet chain conglomerate anymore. The last time I looked at their tanks, every single SW fish in every single tank had ich.
