I picked up a CPR bak pak 1st generation off of ebay and I have to say I am really not impressed with it. I got it for $40 with a maxi jet 1200 and honestly thats about all this thing is worth.

It barely produces any skimmate, like maybe a quarter of an inch every 4 days, its never even come close to half the cup. My odyessa HOB outproduced this thing easy. I have it on my 20 gallon reef.

I know that they do sell a mod for the maxijet that ups the micro-bubbles but is it even worth it? I would have hated to pay full price for such poor performance. Iam thinking about just slapping the maxi jet on my odyessa

With out the MOD the MJ is useless. The MJ is not the pump to be using, they've got a much better one spec'd now.

FWIW I have used every GEN of Bak Pak since they came out, and I pretty much have my pick of the litter when it comes to reef equipment (I work in the industry) :) I'm running the Aero-Force right now and couldn't be happier.

I put the mod on the maxijet and the thing still produces barely any skimate, im just gona give up on this piece of garbage, worthless to buy another pump that cost half price of a overall better skimmer. Cant believe cpr charges 100+ for theae things.

Im going to pick up a eshopps hob ive only heard good things about them
