only the 60gb original premium could play PS2 games, they took that feature out because the scaler doesnt work worth crap, your honestly better to play ps2 games on a ps2 it'll look better, I still play GOW1/2 on my old school ps2 with the 40gb hard drive in it :)
none of the newer model ps3's play ps2 games, they will however play ps1 games, i just bought/downloaded FF 7 from PS1 a couple weeks ago off the playstation store

I personally still use the PS2, actually have 2 the slim and my original baby got one month after release and it still works without a hitch. Now if i could get my kids off of them long enough for me to load a game i might invest in a PS3, but for now ill stick with my PSP, i can hide it!!!
Which btw am holding back on buying a pspgo dont really like the idea of only being able to download games. My psp is hacked and i have a 16 gig card for it which is how much mem the go has, not much space imo. some games are a gig alone

Really? I play a lot of ps2 and ps1 games on my ps3 60gig and hadn't really noticed a lack of visual quality, although I didn't notice a difference between when the scaler was on or off.

are you running through component or hdmi? I'm going to a 1080p 50" plasma via hdmi and GOW2 looks horrible when I try to play it, I have my ps2 hooked to my old 36" lcd and it looks way better back there

I saw on yahoo through one of the game sites that the newest of the old style ps3's were made to not play ps2 games, and that the slim won't either. So, most olld style ps3's will play ps2 games.

Now if the ps3 of any style would record DVD's then I would buy one today.

Our old 32" tube tv and our older DVD player both died at the same time. We upgraded to a vizio 32" HD tv, but use the ps2 to play movies for now. And you can't record on VHS from a HD set top cable box. I know, just get dvr through the cable company, but I hate TW. I don't want to give them any more $$.
