I got a used coralife 120 for cheap... Found out the pump was putting stray voltage in my tank. I know very little about skimmers. I need to know what kind of pump to use to replace it. I have googled and googled but nothing ever tells you specifics about the pump; GPH.. etc..
The old pump had no writing on it. Just need to get it back up online ASAP. Thanks for any help you can give me.

If it is a Coralife Super Skimmer, You need a Needlewheel pump. I believe your model is a 125, not a 120. This might be why you are having a hard time finding info. Search E-Bay. I believe I have seen the pumps seperate.

LOL luna.. well I was hoping to find a different pump that would work instead of paying a butt-ton for a pump. From robman's info, looks like it is pretty specific type of pump though so looks like I need to go with OEM.

Robman that was my issue.. was told it was a 120 but apparently isnt such a thing.
It is the 125, ebay worked, found the replacement pump. Hope the new one doesnt leak voltage. Thanks for the info. $50 :-(

What if I plumb the pump to be an external pump, would this work temporarily until I can get another pump?

Yeah I think they are the cheapest.. $46 plus shipping.
If I can figure out a way to run it outside of the water wouldnt it work... at least temporarily?

A small wave runner will work and a few others the wave runner can set outside the sump but there will be piping involved or the W/R can set in the sump either or.

In a pinch any 500 gph pump with a needle wheel should work ok. It's just that the $45 pump you need has the needle wheel on the impeller with the housing and outlet that is made to be direct fit for your skimmer. And it's the same pump whether your skimmer is the 125 or 220 version.
