 :( Well all mourn the small 6 line wrasse! :'( :-[ fearing I had put a rock on top of him I went investigating and I found him half eatin in side a piece of baricle coral shell! I doubt the C.B. did that, What kind of preditor do I have? that would eat a sleeping wrasse? I have seen some large bristle worms could they be the cause also I have two crabs that don't look like the scarlet leg hemits that I was told they were when I bought them. Or could it be the brittle star that I recently got?Maybe it's something that only comes out at night that I don't know about? What do you guys think?
If any good came of this it is to say I got to clean the tank up a little moving all these rock around ;)

    What color is the Brittle,
I would venture to say that if the CB was harrasing it from the get go that the wrasse was under constant stress and that probably did it in.
As far as being eaten, it could be a number of things, it's the smell of death that attracts the eating, nothin you can do and certainly nothing that caught the wrasse killed it.
It is a shame that at times we lose certain species, we all do and have, but it makes you a better tank keeper when you realize the simple do's and dont's of this most rewarding hobby.
Keep on chuggin and askin David, remember that all answer are opinions and it's up to you to decipher the way that best fits your needs.
    Good Luck

I really don't think the wrasse died of stress. I have done some reserch this morning and some spieces lock themselves in at night, as to whether the 6 line wrasse does this or not I'm still not quite sure. Like I said earlier in this thread he really wasn't too upset by the C.B. and was eating. I'm not saying he deffenatly didn't get stressed but I don't think thats what did him in. I really think something ate him while he slept. The star is a reddish color he's not bright red but a more rusty color. There is a bad pic of it under the thread I posted here I think it is called brittle star. Gresham warned me that it might be a serpant star but I still don't know 4 sure although I asked DR. foster and smith and they said generally if it has bristles on it it is a brittle star. But they also said all brittle and serpant stars were reef safe and I know thats not true!

I know this is an old post, and you probably have resolved your questions, but here is what i have learned. I have a 6 line, and at night he finds little holes in the rocks and sleeps in there, i see him sometimes in the same hole. I also doubt something caught him and killed him while he slept.
