Yes I use chemical bleach. I drain the tank and then put maybe a cup of bleach in the tank and add some water. Take a rag and scrub the sides of the tank with the bleach water. Once you are done scrubbing the tank drain the bleach water. Rinse the tank VERY well. Repeatedly rinse it until there are no signs of bleach left. Then take some RODI water and rinse it again. Then it will be ready to set up again.

you would never know i've been keeping my salt water tank for over 10 years by reading this thread. i've actually never had a quarantine tank before, the LFS i deal with Quarantine's all his fish before he sells them so i have always just acclimated and dropped them in. ( with great success.) unfortunately/fortunately he's very picky where he gets his fish and very rarely comes across copperbands i guess because of the way their caught. not to mention he has a waiting list about 30 people deep.

I used to buy my fish from a store that did not QT thier fish and just buy them from anywhere they could. I had a low survival rate even with a QT system. I wanna say it was about 60 percent survival rate. Now though I go to another LFS and buy fish that have been quarantined. I still QT all my fish but my success rate has greatly improved. ;D
