I THINK I may have used copper treatment (Seachems Cupramine) on my 20gal tank, but for the life of me, I can't remember. If I did, it was one cycle and was about 4yrs ago. I took my 20gal down soon after to make room for my 65gal. I cleaned it good with water and vinegar before placing it into storage, where it's been for 4 yrs.

So my question is, if I did one cycle and it was over 4yrs ago and the tank has been sitting in storage for that long, do you think it's safe to use as a sump? Is there anything I can do to further clean it to make it safe? Thanks for any input.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
I honestly do not think you have anything to worry about.

If you are seriously concerned have the LFS test for copper, and use Cuprisorb.

Ok, I actually have a Seachem copper test kit, so I'll probably just fill the tank and then test the water. Should I let it sit for a certain amount of time before testing?

I would let it sit for a short while (a day). Remember that copper values of 10 ppm are not unusual for NSW and really not considered an issue (based on who you listen to).

I think you mean 10 ppb and not ppm? Dosage to treat for Ich is 0.5 ppm, so hopefully NSW doesn'y have 20 times that amount :)
