So I've been told that if you wipe the copepods off your glass that they'll multiply faster. Is there any truth to this statement?

I haven't heard of that. Although wiping the phyto that forms on the glass and letting back into the water column might increase their reproduction.

Thats not phyto on your glass. It can be a plethora of film algae, but diatoms is a very popular one. Copepods LOVE diatoms. But wiping it off the glass serves no better purpose than it does on the glass where it can be easily eaten.

Copepods don't reproduce any faster when they are wiped off.... you may actually kill some in the process.

    They definitely won't reproduce faster.

The only thing I can see happening is that you wipe off a copepod population that was dosed into the tank and primarily settled on the glass, and ended up spreading the population to other areas of the tank faster than they would have normally gotten there. But that's kinda a stretch.

I think your thinking of coraline algae.
