Ahh... that makes sense. I have my fans tucked away under a canopy, so you never see them... if you have an open top, I can definitely see wanting a clean look... though, it may be worth considering putting a cheap fan on the sump, if the sump is out of sight...

I have an open top w/ a hanging fixture. I installed a fan onto the side of my stand to add flow through the stand. This removes most of the hot humid air caused by my skimmer. On very hot days my tank still reaches 83. I don't like my tank above 81.

Thank you. nothing worse than ruining how your tank looks to save a buck.

Go to Lowes.com, do a "fans" search on their site. Its the only rectangular shaped unit with two (yes 2) fans, controls, etc. It may not be "Purdy", but with some spray paint to touch up the grill to match any colors, I'm sure you'll have a kick-azz fan (s), not retrofits from a computer. This is built for home use, about 4" thick, 10-12" high & maybe 20" wide for under 40 bucks.
Also, try typing in "window fans".

A cooling fan is one of the cheapest & simplest, but yet I have seen some odd setups.

Just grab some 80mm computer fans, that can be found in any junk computer case or power supply if you are looking to save money. Matter of fact you can use the computer power supply to power it.

If you want to do it right, buy some 80mm ball bearing case fans & a 12V power supply. You can either install it into your canopy if possible, or mount it on some acrylic. They even sell the acrylic mounts for 80mm & 120mm fans. Yes, you can get 120v volt fans as well. They are also known as Muffin Fans. Want some control, you can add a temp sensor that will cause the fans to speed up as temp increases. :)
