i've got the hyrdrometer!! and i've tried it like 10 times as the shop keeper told me to, to find the accurate salinity. and the specific gravity is in the 1.020 - 1.023 range!! so what is the undissolved salt doing in there!! or maybe it could be just some dust -_-

Did you get the hydrometer calibrated with your LFS refractometer, because the hydrometer can be way out and you may need to use an offset.

Hey help me, sorry if you mentioned this on another thread but

what brand of salt mix are you using - I only ask this because when I used Red Sea, which is actual salt extracted from sea water there was always calcium and some times sand residue in the bucket after mixing

I agree with Steve, and going on what you have said previously, it's been about 3 days and even if the salinity was slightly high the salt would have dissolved by now.

i think so too, so means mine's good to go? ;D specific gravity's normal, pH is around 8.3. i think its really just dust. so what more do i need to test? and i dont have a refractometer(whatever that is) . haha. thanks you guys!

Have you got any live sand or live rock in the tank? if you haven't I recommend getting some You will also want to get an ammonia, nitrite and nitrate test kits salifert is a good choice. I would measure these to show where your nitrogen cycle is at.
