    I know I have seen it before but can't seem to find it now... Can anyone tell me what to use when I'm connecting my PVC for the plumbing for my aquarium? Some type of purple stuff, right? lol.. I think thats only the primer. I dunno.. Thanks!!

    Yes primer but Tangster has informed me that you don't need the purple kind (that was only so inspectors could see work plumbers did) you can by a clear primer. Just clean the connection with a paper towel or rag to get rid of any debris, add primer to both connecting joints, let that dry, the use the PVC cement on both joints then push the connections together as tight as possible. If you want, you can wipe down the excess glue that may come out of the connection but it won't hurt anything.

    yeah the purple stuff is just a primer.
    CPVC PVC Purple Primer, 8 oz # 30756 by Oatey

    you then then need the cement to glue it together

    YEah, i used the purple stuff because that is what I am used to, if the plumbing will be in view (the purple may look ugly) but I use the purple kind (i think it is a cleaner/primer) but none the less that is what I use. You can see it a little bit in this picture.

    I can see it... I'm just gonna use that. It has worked for you and I'm not really concerned about the uglyness(it will be under the DT)...

    Yeah, well if you are as "SKILLED" as I am, you will have purple fingers for the next 3 days ha ha ha.

    skills come in all shapes and sizes. so do fingers. mine are the large clumsy kind also...lol

    To bad it isn't the 80's anymore, i have a pair of "PLUMBING" pants that would fit in great!

    I like the purple drip marks....give the pipes character under the tank.

    But anyone at home depot can recommend the correct ones for you to use...purple or clear...all the same...as long as you use one or the other!
