Ok so previously I posted saying that I had a deal on a AquaC Remora Pro for $50... I purchased it... w/NO PUMP

Now heres my question... The guy i bought it from said it came w/a Mag 3 powerhead... I was thinking of getting maybe a maxijet 1200?

Will this powerhead fit w/the remora pro????? Also how? I see the hose where you would attache the powerhead to is somewhat thick while the maxijet seems like it has a smaller opening where you would put the hose in...

Sorry if I sound completely lost as I have NO idea what I'm talking about...

The maxi 1200 is for the standard Remora. You will need to pair the Remora Pro with a Mag 3 or I have heard the Mag 5 works even better with it. Both are very large pumps unfortunately. Make sure that the intake tube and the pump are secure as if the pump were to come off you could have a disaster. I know the mags are threaded so if you can mod the intake to screw the pump on directly that would be best.

Hopefully other remora pro owners will chime in. That is definitely a great price for the Pro. I had been searching for a nice HOB Skimmer but ended up getting the Deltec mce600, very expensive but I love how the pump is housed within the skimmer & it skims like crazy.

    Best of luck!

+1 on making sure you get a pump that fits well to start with

also Reefsparky showed me a way of making connections even more stable

if you use very hot water to heat up the hose and then push it over the threaded part of the pump and then submerge the whole thing in iced water , the hose will contract and form around the threads - this will give you a firm connection that should not come apart without brute force on your part

A Mag 3 is the minimum pump you should use on the Pro. Never tried attaching a Maxijet to the pro, but even if you could, why? That makes the Remora Pro in essence, a regular Remora but with a much larger footprint. I'm a member of a few forums, and at any given time, there is usually one for sale for around $35 on one of those forums.
