    Hey all

I ahd a bit of a white spot breakout so as part of treating them i turned the heat up on my tank to 80F. Some of my corals are really not likeing this, so i have reduced the heat.

Will my corals bounce back from this or have i perm damaged them??

I think they would be ok. 80 really isn't a horribly high temp..... in my opinion.....

Ditto on what baugherb said. My a/c took a dump not to long ago and my temp reached 83 and nothing happened. In fact, they opened up a little better.

My system regularly gets to 84 in the summer. I've never had a problem except the fish seem to excret more waste.

Often it isn't how high or low the temperature gets, but the quickness to which these temperatures are achieved that does the damage caused by stress!
With temperature increases comes the negative impact brought on by decreased dissolved oxygen to your livestock!

I really dont see a big drop in my ORP when the temp rises.

I need to grab that new Salifert dissolved o2 test kit to make sure my probe is right.

This chart shows the wide range of temperature that corals can tolerate in wild.

However, I would guess that in nature temperature changes are gradual and not all of a sudden which may shock them in a aquarium environment.

Mean does seem to be around 80 degrees.
