I'm setting up a 20 gallon fuge and want to put a fish in it. I'm thinking a clown because it will be open top, but I have heard of clowns jumping. How many of you have had a clown jump? And if you did, do you think it was chased out, or just jumped on its own?

    Thanks! :)

I just recently had my clown jump, it was his second time, first we were there to get him right back in, second time not so lucky didn't find him until the morning. Personally i think he was chased but i didn't witness it so idk

For what my opinion's worth, I have had my clowns for about a month and never heard or seen them jumping...sometimes at night the big female's tale hits the top of the water making a splash sound, but never actually jumping!

I have literally caught one of my clowns. It was weird. Sitting there watching them and then next thing I know it is in my hand.

It was chased out, the pair were fighting/playing whatever.

Thanks for your opinions and experiences. I have two clowns in my 90 and they are always hanging out at the top of the water, so I often wonder if they would jump if I didn't have a lid.

I have had clowns for 5 months, have an open top, and they have never jumped. They will swim near the top when I feed them and come right up to my hand. At night they sleep vertically and upside down, which is really cool. Get them and don't worry about it, they are great fish.

I wouldn't worry about it personally.

Ok thanks. Just makes me so nervous!

Oh no!! How terrible. Poor thing. I have two dogs and three cats, so if it jumped, it would be a snack in my house too.

I'm thinking of getting a B&W clown...not sure though. But I want a clown that is different looking. I already have an ocellaris clown and two picassos.
