I have two small clownfish in my older reef tank and the smallest clownfish literally "hovers" almost vertically over a torch coral staring at it all day and only stops that when I feed, it pigs out then goes back to doing it again. Is it trying to host with it or just likes what it sees. My bigger clown is starting to do the same thing with a toadstool coral, except it actually hovers right over it but not quite in it. I've tried for over a year to get a clownfish to host with something...maybe it be getting close to happening?

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
They may try to reside there, yes. My clown fish are not big adventures either, they have a few spots they like and unless food is in the tank that is where they reside. Sound like perfectly normal behavior to me. It may take them awhile to get used to the sting of the torch. Sounds like they are thinking of using it as a host.
