Hey everyone, I recently bought a clownfish and had it in QT for almost a month now. Well yesterday I saw a blackish looking bump on his nose. Then today I saw another one on it's side. I started giving him garlic and Vitamin CF when i saw the first 1 yesterday now it looks like it's slowly coming off. it acts normal just hides more than usual. Any idea what this is. Also I have been lowering the SG over the last week to 1.011.

Well it looks like clown is on its last leg now. Should be any hour now. Them black bumps turned out to grow like a white patch. He made it for almost 2 weeks but now he is just laying on his side gasping for air. I'm kinda pissed, he was supposed to go into the DT this week also. Atleast it happened in the QT instead of DT. Well I guess i will get another tomorrow or wednesday. Try again. Atleast my tank will cycle for another month.

Do the right thing and put him down.

The quickest way and most humane, IMO, is to put him in a plastic grocery bag and whack it against something hard, or drop a heavy book on it.

Then flush, after a moment of silence and a few comforting words.

Cold is having a death-watch. It's a fish, all he understands is that he's dieing.

wow...well that is one way to do it. [i would hate to see what happens if your dog got rabbies] i would just use baking soda and water, or even the freezer.

If my dog had rabies then I would have it euthanized. The bag and book method would only make him angry. I love my dogs, I love my cats, I love my fish. My only point is to ease the suffering of a dieing creature.

tbh mate - i dont think having the salinty that low helped him. I know what you were trying to acheive but it really stresses the fish out - clowns are normally very resiliant and pull through anything. I've seen them before with half their mouth missing and still acting normal
