I put a goby in my tank a few weeks ago and I finally seen him yesterday. I just look for fresh sand that gets stirred up. Its a good sign where he is and he is still alive.

I added a yellow clown goby to my tank about a week ago and he has been out the entire time. He spent a couple days on the sand but not hiding. Recently he has been perching on a flat rock near a fungia waiting for food.

I Purchased a Brown clown goby, and he didnt seem shy at all. Well maybe a bit satyed on one side of the tank for a while, seemed scared of what was on the other side of the rocks lol. But na hes been great, ill put the syringe in the tank to feed him and he'll come and swim right up to it and eat straight from it. Im pretty happy with him, im sure you'll be too. He could just be shocked maybe not use to the moving or just to much moving.

give him another 3 days and he will be annoying you with the amount of sand tossed around.

Give him time. My orange spot and yellow watchman both took a few days to get used to the tank. Now the orange spot makes it snow constantly and the watchman skips across the tank and sits up little areas to watch the tank. It's the coolest when they both poke their heads out at the same time from the same den :)

Clown gobies can definitely be very shy. Do you have any branching coral in your tank? They love to perch on coral and such. My little guys were pretty shy for a while, now they are more outgoing than my clownfish.
