i added about only 5 cups of sand to my refugium from my old system that was shut down for about 4 months and the water in my tank is like cloudy and theres dust and crap on the glass. its been running like this without a skimmer for about 5 days. i dont know if it would effect anything but i also added about 7 cups of salt to gradually raise the sg from 0.000 to 0.023-25.
thanks for any help you can offer

Adding sand will create a sandstorm which makes cloudy water and the salt will not dissolve for about 12 hours...thats why you dont put it directly into your tank and some salt takes less time to dissolve but whenever i make saltwater it takes all night to dissolve even with a K1 in there.

but the sand was added to a low flow refugium and its been collecting crap on the display tank glass. and i think theres a small amount of gha growing. theres very low salt level right now so would andding the sand and a couple lr rubble pieces start a cycle?

Yes..But rubble doesnet do the job..i would get at least half of what your tank recommends.
