I just plugged my protein skimmer on for the first time in about 5 days because I just dosed for Red Slime with a Red slime controller and the directions said to discontinue use of the skimmer. I now plugged in the skimmer and there are thousands upon thousands of tiny bubbles coming out of it and clouding the tank! Now all of my fish are in hiding and won't come out!

Before I plugged it in I cleaned the skimmer with hot water and made sure that there was no gunk in the tank since it had been off for 5 days. What should I do? Will this issue resolve itself since the skimmer was off for so long?

It is n Eshopps hang on the back protein skimmer. How long will the break in take again? Will this pose any issues or problems to the tank or fish/corals?

Forgiveme i am not all that versed in HOB models. Did this happen when you first installed the skimmer? How long did it last then?

I know you prolly already did but you did your water change right? Also if you were using the red slime did you find out the reason why it was occuring?

I guess it did happen then, but I must not have noticed it as much since there were no fish or coral in the tank to be scared into hiding. I am in class right now, so hopefully when I get back home the problem will be under control.

I did do the water change...~10 % of the total volume. I think it was due to the fact that I was feeding flake food, and also feeding two times a day. I have since cut down to only frozen food once a day. But now my Blue Hippo has HLLE...what a drag. I am supplementing it with Formula 2 as well as garlic extract, Nori, and a new vitamin formula I picked up today.

The air bubbles are from cleaning your skimmer. Now you have to wait for a slime coating to cover the skimmer.. Iz all good!

Damn, that sucks because my fish are in hiding and it is hard to get them to come out in the bubbles to eat.
