clear film on underside of LR

    Just wondering if anyone else has like a film/slime that is clear in color on the underside of there LR, I noticed it yesterday as i was picking my LR up to add more in.I cant get a picture because the only camera i have is my cell phone right now.

    If it is algae how do i get rid of it thats my next question? any help ill snap a picture tonight but i doubt it will turn out. It looks excatly like that picture posted on the site above.

    Algae needs light. If this is growing on the underside of you LR then it's most likely a sponge of some sort. Which is a good thing :)

    Not all algae needs a lot of light. Coralline can sometimes grow on the undersides of rock, just from the light reflecting off the bottom. However, more likely it is a sponge or bacterial film of sorts. Tough to guess though without seeing it.

    Well I thought t was a sponge but it covers all the rock in my tank and throughout my zoas.

    That looks more like bacteria or fungus. Do you dose carbon or use biopellets?

    Yes i run carbon and GFO just changed it like 2 weeks ago. Maybe i should change it?

    no, I meant organic carbon, as in vodka, vinegar, or biopellets, not Granular Activated Carbon. However, if it is bacteria, then GAC may help, so you could try changing it. Also, where do you get your water?
