Hello people. So I woke up this morning and my shrimp kicked the bucket:( I checked all the water specs and everything was reading great. My dotty back was swimming around the tank with the shrimps corpse in its mouth so I'm not to sure what happened lol

And your Dotty back thanks you for the meal, perhaps some tartar next time.

Dotty backs love ornamental shrimp, nom nom.

How long have you had it? I've heard they only live 1-3 years.

This is what I was leaning towards. Mine just died last week. Had it for almost two years, so old age was my guess.

Actually, it's about 4 years in captivity. :)

While we never know their age when purchased, I still wouldn't rule out murder; as Cheryl mentioned, dottybacks love shrimp.

ok sorry guys slow posting. when I woke up he was still alive but acking slow. purple dotty back was stalking him and grabbing his tail...and the shrimp died shorty after..its body was still intact when I got him out of the tank ..the fish wasn't interested anymore..like cat and mouse. but it was about a 2'' shrimp. and has held its own for two months in my tank...thinking about getting rid of my little crazy fish

You're going to have to get creative and catch him. It's his tank now and introduction of another fish might be extremely difficult. You can try a fish trap, google how to make a fish trap it's easy. You can try a non barbed hook.

Do you have sump? I can not remember. If you do stick the fish in the sump if you can not re-home him. No sewer tour, it's not his fault that he is an arse. Nature of the beast thing going on.
