you said you acclimated for 1/5 of an hour as in 12 minutes? or i assume you meant 1.5 hours...
they usually do okay with 1.5 hrs of acclimation. however, did you expose him to air?

I did 1.5 hours of acclimation.
I did expose him to air when I finally moved him to the tank though!

I will keep an eye out for the new shrimp hopefully.

Do you think I should remove the old shell if it is one? Is it bad to leave in there? Will it cause any decay or nitrates?

    Thanks!

My cleaner shrimp molted a few days ago. When I first walked into the room I thought instant tragedy the molt had been sucked up to a powerhead and I instantly thought it was him. Bug luckily upon closer inspection it was his molt. They will molt and shed there old skin in order to grow, the same way I guess as a snake will shed his skin.

You can remove the shell or leave it there.. Usually shrimps will eat their own shell because of all the nutrients it has. It will rot but usually it's not enough to cause a problem IMO.

In my past, I have acclimated 9 shrimp-type inverts. Two of which have been exposed to air and died the next day then... the other 7 did not come into contact with air and all survived

if the shrimp is dead it cannot eat its own shell.
None if mine have ever eaten their own molts, however my bristle worms make short work of it by the next morning

Really? My cleaner eats his molt almost right after the molt. I've seen him do it twice. Bristle worms will do the job too lol.
If his shrimp is dead then I guess he won't be eating anytime soon XD

Well he's not dead!!!! I saw him scooting around this morning and this evening so he must have molted.

The old shell is nowhere to be found!

I am relieved he is ok....

    Thanks Everyone!
