    I hope the wave doesn't hurt those south Pacific reefs too much. I know that's nature but still ... It's so fragile in good times.

    my girlfriend has family on oahu, they are preparing for a possible tsunami to hit them around 11am

    it would be interesting to know how a tsunami would affect a reef. if it was deep water i dont think the wave would break there. they break when they encounter shallow waters.

    Thank God the media freaks everyone out. Not a single thing is going to happen. Y'all all realize Hawaii takes 50 foot waves on a regular basis, right?

    Big waves yes but not that big. Hilo has been hit hard before.

    Big waves and tsunamis are different. There is a far greater amount of energy in tsunamis than surface waves.
