    A large water change won't shock em as long as your salinity isn't crazy off. My tang poos a lot ad my nitrates sore so I do a 10% per week just to keep him in check

    Do a couple of WC a week, maybe 10% a time.
    Same salinity, same temp, add slowly and remove slowly.
    Should be fine, I am currently siphoning my hospital tank about 4 ltrs a hour and adding 4 litres back at the same time, I just think this is a better way in a small. Tank environment

    +1 to both. Even multiple WCs can be done, as long as parameters are the same between your tank and the make-up water. Also, you need to keep a close eye on that canister and clean it promptly. Trapped detritus still breaks down into DOCs, elevating nitrate production.

    Oh, and drop the miracle snake oil. If it worked, you'd be seeing results by now.
