I run my carbon in my overflow, it gets good flow and fits really nice in there. I haven't had any issues as of now.

Good. Do you put it in the drain part of the overflow or the part where the tank water enters?

Just make sure it doesn't block the waterflow or you will end up with a flood. Either place would work as long as you keep it safe from blocking the water.

Yup, I made sure it wasn't blocking anything. How long does it usually take to see the results from carbon? I have never ran carbon and there is a slight yellow tint in my water that I'm wanting to clear up.

Give it a few days. Make sure you change it out every month too. Once the carbon is exhausted, it will leech the bad stuff back into the tank.

Chemi-Pure says that it only needs to be replace every 6 months under normal use. I'm not sure what qualifies as normal use, but I change mine's out about every 4.5 - 5 months.

You should see a noticeable difference over night, but a couple days for full effect. I left my old carbon in way to long (to lazy to change), tank started to get that funk smell, put the new carbon in, and the next morning the water was crystal clear and the smell was gone. It works pretty fast.
