Well now its getting confusing. i have a softies only tank and iv seen accept for my large grren button polyps, all my other corals did extremely fine when i added GFO and Carbon suddenly and twice more then normal as i dint know. here im gona have a fish only with dead rock and not live. i am looking for the lowest maintanance. SEAgel contains some form of aluminium (thats what i found out reading different blogs) and all suggest chemipure elite. i will be changing water 1ce every two weeks 10%. im from india and i buy my products online or my sister gets it as she stays in south carolina or i buy when i go to singapore. what is Clear FX pro? anyone used it?

SeaGel is a mix of aluminum oxide and carbon. Aluminum Oxide takes out Phosphates and Silicates. It works real well on Silicates but not as good as GFO on Phosphates. It was recommended to me to get as much Phosphates out with GFO as I could then use the aluminum oxide to get silicates out as the phosphates would clog up the pores of the aluminum oxide before the silicates.

I'm going to keep using GFO for the time being.

FORENOTE: I sell all 4 of these products. (The 3 in question as well as Purigen). In many environments, you're better off having separate media bags with the products best for your aquarium. The original question though is asking about products that have a mix of medias.

I must not have been clear in my original post so I'll try again.

SeaGel.......no organic scavenging exchange resins. (You could add Purigen to this though if you wanted). Phosguard is Aluminum Oxide. In an environment of high phosphates, some phosphorus will deadsorb. In a low P environment, it's all good. Contrary to what Seachem says, there will be some leaching of Aluminum into the tank as anyone with a lot of leather corals can attest to.

Chemipure Elite......exchange resins are intended for FRESHWATER and barely work in saltwater. Might as well add Purigen to this product too. Carbon is pretty good quality, GFO is fine but there's not a lot of it. Leaches Iron into the water at 10 times the rate of NSW (like almost ALL forms of GFO).

Clear Fx Pro.......exchange resins work great in saltwater, the polymer coated GFO absorbs 4 times the phosphates of regular GFO and doesn't leach Iron, and the carbon is excellent. Unfortunately, it's not widely available yet as it was just released (in Dec I think). Our dry goods suppliers don't even have it yet. However, I sometimes bring in fish shipments from Sea Dwelling Creatures and this is one of the few dry goods they have. If your LFS orders fish or corals from them, then ask them to bring this product in. Ariel left Boyd Enterprises (makers of Chemipure) and was the developer of this highly superior product.

Seriously, this is a "night and day" situation. However, this product might not be available yet in your area.

    Need smaller size for nanos

I would suggest they offer it in a size smaller than 450ml for the nano crowd.

    Uninformed moderator...

The remarks made by this moderator are incorrect and slanderous in nature. Perhaps he is a good friend of Ariels and is thus promoting her when this thread never started about Clear Fx.
Chemipure and Chemipure Elite's resins work just as effeciently in saltwater as well as freshwater. In fact Chemipure was first designed for use in a saltwater environment.
The things stated about GFO and resins by this moderator are just being repeated from what he was told by someone else or a salesman.
i would welcome an actual factual scientific proof that GFO leaches 10 times the amount of iron into an aquarium and that our ion-exhange resins do not work in saltwater. Keep in mind there are many different ion-exchange resins on the market.

Ariel actually still has yet to return company property that rightfully belongs to Boyd Enterprises after she was let go from the company.

If you want a tried and true proven product that is used by many aquarist with great results then go with Chemipure or Chemipure Elite.

alrite then chemipure elite it is. so any other suggestions on my 2ft fish only? sand will be aragonite sand 1-2" deep and two big hollow dead rocks, lighting will be 2blue, 1 true actinic03 and 1 6500k 24w white t5s. 1 boyu WG-428 in-tank skimmer, wavemaker-20times the flowrate of tank volume. the chemipure elite will be staying in a top filter compartment with just 1 or two small sponge that will be replaced every 2-4 weeks so that the nitrate dosnt buildup.
