check valves...

    i need a check valve for my discharge of my sump, went to home depot and they have plastic check valves (what i want) but have a rubber seal... saltwaters just ganna tare that seal up...
    any ideas on what i can do?!

    i just recently took mine out cause i was told on here that they will gunk up and fail all too commonly/ and or restrict water flow. when i took it out, it was all gunked up (thanks horkn).

    so what did u do just incase of a back syphen?

    you can drill a hole closed to the water level of the return nozzels that will break the siphon in case of a power outage.

    dill a hole on the discharge above the water level of the tank?

    As close to the water level as possible is best.

    yeah below the water level as close to the top you can. as far as the size just drill as small hole and then turn the power off your return pump to test the syphon break. if it doesnt break, just drill a slightly bigger hole
