The power at my house goes out all the time too; clip it onto the lighting fixture, drop the airstone in, and peace of mind is definitely back. I've also used a similar cheap machine for over 5 hours in a 5 gallon bucket while moving. No casualties and everyone was healthy and happy when we got them back in the tank.

    Nice alternative.
And these are very cheapo - I was enraged when I put batteries in it and it did not turn on right away - oddly it turned on a minute later. That said, it did save my fish. I am fairly convinced of that. So the money was well spent.

A must have in any emergency kit. IMO the best to buy are built for Frabil and are made for keeping live bait alive. They are pretty hardy, run about $14 and can be found in the sporting goods section of most Wal-Marts.

Glad you didn't lose anything Matt. Thanks for posting.

    Thanks Mike!
Good tip too - do you have a link to one of those battery air pumps you like handy for the record here?

The power just went out at my house last week...wasn't home. Luckily, no live stock yet. I need to get one or two of these.

I lost power the first time for 9 hours and had one of those little pumps. After that I bought a generator and never looked back. We lost power for 16 hours just last week. I ran my tank, fridge, tv, cable, computer and internet

Every hobbiest needs one of these as a back up. Cheap insurance. Ask the people from the Alabama tornado that kept their tanks alive for weeks this way.
