thanks guys, glad you like it.
the fancy edge was probably the most expensive bit on it, but i couldnt say no :)
its a mahogany stain with a lot of cabothane clear on top. the finish on the inside wont be as good as the outside, just enough to keep it sealed with all that salt water around

    finally, something to post lol
bad pics i know, a blackberry is not a camera.

stand is back together! is there anything wrong with putting the tank under an air conditioner like that?

the tank and hood in that pic arent the ones i'll be using.
am going to make a new hood, probably a few inches taller than that one and also hang it down a couple inches to cover the water line.
considering buying a new tank to allow for more height :-/
after covering the bottom with sand and coming down to overflow level with the hood would probably only have 14 inches of tank height left

got rear side of the sump completely replaced to fix the crack. good as new now. and got my little refugium tank made. apparently it was cheaper to get it done with tinted glass as i wanted it slightly thicker. am sure it will still function ok.

wow i love the stand and canopy that you made for the tank.

and I'm happy to see that you did make the canopy and stand and did not just go out and buy one.

thanks, the ridgeback is alot of fun, still only a puppy. can chew through pretty much anything in about 3 mins tho lol.

thanks, its good when things work out
not sure how the build is going to go with xmas coming up but hopefully i'll still be able to progress through it. maybe santa will help out ;D

thanks, i did look at buying one, but thought building it would be cheaper. turns out it wasnt, but am more than happy how it turned out. that canopy is actually a bought one and a bit to narrow, so will be building a new one when i get some new lights.

    thread revival teaser

looking back on both pages of posts in this epic thread, i feel i've learnt quite a bit in the few short months its been since i last made an update.
my nano is now something i'm not completely ashamed of, in fact i'm quite surprised at how it looks today and would once again like to thank 3reef for its many valuable lessons shared that have helped me get it this far.
and with the new knowledge i've gained from that little tank, i've got alot more confidence in this tanks chances. which may soon, after a few years, finally be seeing the light of day (well probably more T5 and or LED actually)

so, the actual progress to date is:
decided to get a head start on the cycle and fill the tank to slowly add rock to.
my uncles old tank was a bit scratched and ended up leaking so the original tank that doesnt fit the stand properly was used.
this also has given me a chance to play with a skimmer :)
its not very pretty but its a step in the right direction.
ordered about the same amount of live rock thats in there again but unfortunately it hasnt been delivered yet. no idea when it will be either.
    also, this:
    has just been ordered ;D
it will be roughly 48"x18"x24" soooo....90 gal?
hopefully in a couple weeks i should be able to at least hook up all the final plumbing and have a system with operating sump!!!
real lights and a chiller will hold me back from getting corals for a bit but at least i should be able to add some fish after my holiday!
its been a mission to get this far getting to see everything take shape is very exciting.
already wishing now i'd gone bigger but at least that will give me something to plan when this is up haha and also a reason to concentrate on trying to get the very best from my limited real estate.

still going to be a while til i decide on lighting and save for them but at least i might get a chance to work on a scape soon.
