Picked up my first chalice at a frag swap today. Not sure what species it is. I've read that they can be very sensitive to light changes but then again, not many coral aren't. Just wondering what some of you have experienced regarding the subject? TIA

I would place it on the sand or bottom rocks. Mine lose color at mid to upper levels unless they are shaded.

    mine too.

Some like shade and some like intense light.

Though, really, i have mine in the bottom under D5 and it still isn't coloring up all the way. But when it's higher it shrivels up...

    They can be tricky.

Thanks guys.I've read that they can be tricky.

Most of the large mother colonies I see in my LFS are under some decent light. But not sure about this one. I guess I'll start it at the bottom and slowly move it to different areas and monitor how it reacts.

As a general rule, the lower they are, the more color they will display.
