My soft coral was looking good for the first two days after I added it on Saturday. It was open and extended. The last day it hasn't opened fully and it has developed white spots that appear "dead". I'm sure this is not good. What might be causing it and what are the possible corrective measures? Thanks.

That looks like a nice devils hand leather they go through phases of shedding skin and retraction I would give it less light and more flow and watch it the white spots may be a bad sign I have never had good luck with those myself.

Do you mean 150watts of metal halide in your signature ? I never heard of 750 watts and if you do have 750 watts of MH on your 55 gallon tank that would be overkill.

Crabby got a very good point! then again need to check your parameters, could be the lack of some trace element, or perhaps water quality

    Thanks for the quick replies!

I have two fixtures, 250 each. My params are zeros across the board. My calcium is 440, mag 1280 as of 20mins ago. I have been dosing kent essential elements, kent Tech 1, b-ionic 2part and selfiert mag.

It was wide open an beautiful the first two days now the spots. Should I move it lower in the tank? It is now on the top of the rock work.

I'm a newbie at this, but that seems like a lot to me. And a 55 isn't that deep.

I would move it down in the tank my buddy keeps his at the bottom of his 150gal reef and the coral is really healthy and he has 3x150w hqi lamps in his fixture.
